Vibrations, Acoustics and Metrology
Acoustic is the branch of physics which studies vibrations occuring and transmitted in gases, liquids and solids.
Acoustic vibrations modeling can be divided in 3 phases:
Emission: an object is the set to vibrate around its neutral position which create the acoustic vibration.
Propagation: the vibration of the object induces pressure variations in the surrounding medium. These variations of pressure propagate. It is the acoustic wave.
Reception: a sensors is used to detect the variations of pressure (ear, sonometer, sonar).
